Sport ,Music and Arts clubs/groups


There are an increasing number of sports clubs that cater for people with autism.We are keen to add to this list, so please let us know of any other appropriate sports ,music and arts clubs in the region. 

There is a also a quarterly newsletter issued jointly by Cardiff and the Vale Family Information Services . They have articles including any new clubs that may be setting up .To receive this you have to register on the Families First Disability Index .The Index is to ensure that families of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs are kept up to date with relevant information which may be beneficial.  It also assists service providers in planning their services for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs.

Cycling: Pedal Power

Pedal Power is a charity based in Cardiff that encourages and enables children and adults of all ages and abilities to experience the benefits of cycling. They strive to remove the barriers to cycling that many people face and work to a key set of values.They have a base in Pontcanna and Cardiff Bay .

Trampolining: Rebounders

Popular local charity that runs rebound therapy sessions for people with a wide range of disabilities, of all ages. Used by many families with children on the autistic spectrum.

Music & Arts (These are just a few groups we have come across )

Chapter Arts Centre - Animation for Young People on the Autistic Spectrum

They run a 10-week course. These 90 minute sessions allow the young people taking part to increase social confidence and to learn and develop new or existing animation skills in a supportive, creative environment. Each session can stand alone or be part of a larger scheme of work, as individual learning programmes can be created by experienced animation staff.

Local Motion Dance 

Local Motion Dance is a weekly dance class for children and young people with disabilities. It is an exclusive disability dance company and has been producing dance pieces since 2008. Their qualified dance tutors wanted to make a difference through the medium of dance by motivating young people to broaden their horizons, enabling them to develop new skills and broaden their horizons.

Hijinx Theatre

A professional theatre company based at Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff who tour small scale theatre throughout the UK and Europe. 

Their casts always include actors who have learning disabilities. They also run projects with other inclusive theatre groups.


Upbeat Music Specialist 

Run by Liz Upham and its mission is to develop a provision that offers all adults with learning disabilities the opportunity to develop social and communication skills through a variety of different sessions.
